Microtox is an advanced technique involving the intradermal administration of highly diluted botulinum toxin into the superficial layers of the skin, rather than into the deeper facial muscles used for wrinkle reduction. When placed within the dermis, botulinum toxin acts on the tiny arrector pili muscles surrounding pores and on eccrine and sebaceous glands. This results in visible pore refinement, improved skin texture, and a reduction in excess sebum production.
In addition, botulinum toxin has a well-documented anti-inflammatory effect. By reducing inflammatory mediators in the skin, Microtox can calm redness, improve skin tone uniformity, and reduce acne flare-ups, making it particularly effective for patients with oily, acne-prone, or rosacea-prone skin.
To avoid adverse effects such as muscle weakness, asymmetry, or a frozen appearance, we use very low doses, precise intradermal placement, and carefully spaced injection points. This ensures that deeper facial muscles remain unaffected and facial expression is preserved.
Downtime is minimal. Patients may experience mild redness, small raised injection points, or transient swelling, which typically resolve within a few hours to 24 hours. Normal activities can usually be resumed immediately
