Botox for the masseter muscles is a safe and effective treatment for people who experience teeth grinding (bruxism), jaw clenching, or tension-related jaw pain. The masseters are large chewing muscles on either side of the jaw. When they are overactive — often due to stress, sleep bruxism, or habitual clenching — they can cause tooth wear, jaw pain, headaches, and even a widened, square jawline.
By injecting small amounts of Botox directly into the masseter muscles, we temporarily relax their activity. This reduces the force of clenching and grinding, helping to relieve pain, protect the teeth, and decrease muscle bulk over time, which can create a slimmer, more tapered jawline.
Effects appear within 1–2 weeks, lasting about 3–4 months. With repeated treatments, the masseters often continue to shrink slightly, and symptoms of clenching and grinding tend to become milder.
